Abstract

Most acute glomerulonephritis is immunologically mediated. For acute post-streptococcal glomerulonephritis the evidence suggests that immune complexes formed with streptococcal antigens localize on the gloinerular capillary wall, activated the complement systems, and initiated a proliferative and inflammatory response.
Serum immunoglobulin levels were studied in the patients with the acute glom ruloneph ritis (28 cases), who were admitted to the Pediatric Ward, Chosun University Hospital from January, 1982 to November, 1983.
The result obtained is as follosws;
1. The mean serum IgG levels were increased; According to age groups, 1769¡¾757.5§·/§£ between 3-5yrs, 1767¡¾335.9§·/§£ between 6-8yrs, 1605.6¡¾306.4§·/§£ between 9-11yrs and 1769¡¾238.1§·/§£ between 12-16yrs.
2. The mean serum IgM levels were increased According to age groups, 189¡¾603.3§·/§£ between 3-5yrs, 199.8¡¾48.8§·/§£ between 6-8yrs, 178¡¾58. 4§·/§£ between 9-11yrs and 1769¡¾238.1§·/§£ between 12-16yrs.
3. The mean serum IgA levels were increased; According to age groups, 161¡¾101.5§·/§£ between 3-5yrs, 277¡¾111.1§·/§£ between 6-8yrs, 224.9¡¾45.1§·/§£ between 9-11yrs, and 272¡¾122.5§·/§£ between 12-16yrs.
